Obama and Afghanistan →
I realize that:
I’ve been idle on Tumblr for months.
This is about 2 weeks too late in internet time.
But I think it’s still worth commenting on.
How is this a betrayal? Obama made it very clear during the campaign that he would begin withdrawing from Iraq in order to focus on Afghanistan - a war he considered just. I may not agree - but I’m incredibly frustrated with the...

Our elections are broken, but when I see this, I try hard to remember not to take American democracy for granted.

You're now chatting with a random stranger. Say hi!
You: wassup.
Stranger: whats your favorite band
You: pavement.
Your conversational partner has disconnected.
If they keep saying it then it must be true.
To set the record straight: I read Drudge because it is the most accurate predictor of what stories will exist in the New York Times and the New York Post the next morning.
Also, it’s good know what “they” are thinking - know thy enemies and all.
I love the guy I sit next to at work, but he’s got this bothersome habit of leaving the Drudge Report up on his monitor, which...

I love Virgin (Air)
If you fly any other airline, you don’t love the internet and your twitter followers enough.
Technology and Freedom
Random anecdote about social media usage and “freedom” - all my Iranian aunts now have Facebook accounts, along with lots of cousins. Looking at their photos and profiles, you can hardly tell they live under Shari’a law.

Dumbest Metro Article OTD →
I’m starting a new series on the absurdity of the local free paper, the Metro, which litters every T car in the Boston area. Here’s today’s installment where Graham Wood tells us nothing in 200 words.
If Obama does as well as Bush does... →
If Obama can execute on his promises as well as Bush did, we’ll be in good shape (via greenspun’s blog).
Has Barack Obama convinced Bostonians to shovel their fucking sidewalks yet?
– @owlbear via twitter, in response to mine and langer’s lame attempt at starting an internet meme.
When Obama asks us to do service for our fellow Americans, think first not of feeding children or volunteering, but of doing the simple things that make your neighborhood a better place to live....
Winds Of Orbis is an IGF Student Finalist! →
Congrats to seth and the rest of his team.
sjsivak:
We really did not think there was anyway that we would be finalists. Typically IGF is all about making games simple and accessible to anyone and Winds of Orbis has a number of peripherals and strange setup requirements. I cannot wait for GDC this year. See you all in March!
Goodbye Bush, Goodbye 9/11...
On this final day of the Bush presidency I can’t help but think about how different his legacy would look without 9/11. His presidency is marked by that fateful moment atop the rubble at Ground Zero when he called out: “The people who knocked these buildings down will hear of us soon”. Instead of appealing to hope, change, or to make appeals for public service, he chose to feed...
